Each year, Earth Day is celebrated on the 22nd of April for protecting the environment by shutting off the appliances, planting trees, reducing plastic waste, protecting forests, and wildlife, and trying to convince others how to take care of our beloved planet. Around 190 countries and 1 billion individuals mobilized together for action on this memorable day which was first celebrated in the 1970s in the United States of America. This year, the whole world is prepared to celebrate its 52nd Earth Day with the theme of “Invest in our Planet”. Today, the world is more concerned about the diverse effects of climate change and the decline in biodiversity. Almost, 1 million animals and plants are about to extinct in a decade. As this day goes digital, experts from worldwide come on digital platforms to talk about the solution for tackling the climate crisis. This will also lead towards the path of a safer, healthier, cleaner, and more prosperous future for all. To implement the actions, we need young blood with a sharp and sustained focus on education, training, and public awareness in all countries and at all levels of government, society, and civil society organizations. As the young people are one of the largest demographics in the world approximately one billion youth roam around the globe today. Climate change education is now a necessary foundation to tackle the complex issue of climate change, global warming, biodiversity, and deforestation.

So, we need young leaders with the skills, knowledge, and passion to push for innovative solutions. We can play an active role in protecting and improving the environment by changing our lifestyle and how it affects the environment. We can make their homes, schools, and youth organizations more environmentally friendly by adopting environmentally friendly practices, recycling different materials as well as preserving resources such as water and electricity. Engaging youth in environmental protection not only creates a direct impact on changing youth behaviors and attitudes but possibly influences their parents, relatives, and ultimately society. Unfortunately, we don’t realize our strengths and potential, most are busy with useless activities such as drugs, parties, or social media addiction. They have no vision or leadership. There is a dire need for the teacher’s training for climate education in schools, colleges, and universities so that they can sensitize the students to come forward with actions for making a sustainable and green environment.

The environmental societies at schools, colleges, and universities play an essential and active role play for initiating grass-roots activism for the environment, forest, and water conservation efforts that will improve livelihoods. We have only one planet which is providing all the necessary resources for human beings to survive and prosper. But as the global population grows and develops, the demand for energy and consumer goods increases. This has led to increased pollution and misuse of natural resources, causing great damage to the environment. Today, many experts speak about promoting sustainable/greener cities without putting too much strain on the environment. So, engaging youth in organized efforts with proper awareness and training programs are effective ways to promote environmental sustainability. It is high time for youth to consider their needs and decide what is important and how they will, hey survived on this planet with minimum effort. It is our responsibility to take steps for the change as progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything. “Let’s Vow together to prove ourselves as responsible members of the community.
