This book was written
by VIKTOR E. FRANKL and was published originally in 1946 which contains at
least 200 pages. The writer described himself as a sociologist who helped
people to know the meaning of their lives. The writer says that during the time
of World War 2 his complete family was abducted by the German ruler Hitler who
was very cruel and he had killed his complete family just as he remained and
was taken to a camp called a concentration camp.
This was the worst
camp where prisoners were treated badly due to which this camp was named badly.
The writer says that everyone in this camp was depressed when they would be
left and meet their family or relatives due to which they would become mental
and would die even due to depression. The writer describes that every morning
when they woke up they saw the sign of death as they were not provided food
which is necessary due to which people suffered in this camp. After that, he
started thinking about how to help the people in this camp and what was the
reason that he was kept at this camp.
After thinking about
this, he decided to run away or come out of the camp and help the people to
find meaning in their lives. In 1945, he came out from the camp and started
logotherapy which he owned himself the purpose of opening logotherapy was to
help to find the meaning of what they start or live. When he had patients he
asked them a question about why they don’t commit suicide so patients become
shocked but some answered with great courage due to which they could easily
find the meaning in their lives.
The main theme of the
book is that whatever we start as an action or etc. we should know the meaning
of starting that action or question ourselves can do this.
