It is unbelievable to listen that a country like Pakistan which is known as the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has recently declared an emergency in its province Punjab because of the rise in rape cases. According to the Punjab information commission Punjab, a total of 2439 women were raped and 90 were slain during the previous six months during this time in Lahore more than 400 women were raped, and more than e 2300 women were kidnapped.

Besides, according to a recent report by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) 2015 to 2021 in Pakistan at least 11 rape crime cases were reported every day and over 22000 such occurrences have been reported to police in the last six years. Further, four to five rape cases are being reported in Punjab every day. According to the Global Gender Gap index 2021 ranking, Pakistan comes in at number 153 out of 156 nations barely ahead of Iraq, Yemen and Afghanistan.

The Human Rights Ministry document said that 5048 cases of workplace harassment and violence against women were reported in the country during 2018, 4751 cases were reported in 2019, 4276 cases in 2020, and 2078 cases in 2021. According to a 2011 survey of experts conducted by the Thomson Reuters Foundation poll, Pakistan is the 3rd most dangerous country in the world for women.

Also, it expressed that 90% of Pakistani women face domestic violence as well more than 1000 women and girls are killed by honor killings every year. The given data and figures show that despite being an Islamic county, its daughters and sisters are not saved which creates a bad image. Besides, people won't be comfortable living in such a country where their daughters and sisters face countless obstacles like violence, harassment, and honor killings.

At last, I would like to request that the government must protect women since they are an important part of a nation and contribute a huge contribution to a nation's success as well they should be treated equally and must be respected by everyone.
