Terrorism and extremism have been significant
challenges for Pakistan, affecting the lives of its citizens and hampering the
nation's progress. Pakistan has faced many forms of terrorism including
extremist groups attack and etc which have caused instability and economic
impact for Pakistan. One of Pakistan's most prominent extremist groups is
the (TTP).
The TTP has carried out numerous attacks targeting civilians, security forces, and government installations. Other extremist organizations, such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), have also been active in the region, continuing violence and spreading their extremist ideologies. Pakistan has faced such casualties due to terrorism as according to the Global Terrorism Index 2020, Pakistan ranked 5th among countries most affected by terrorism, with a total of 1,421 deaths caused by terrorism in 2019.
These casualties include both civilians and
security personnel who lost their lives in various attacks across the country.
Apart from this, Pakistan has faced the economic costs of terrorism according to
a report by the Institute for Economics and Peace, terrorism cost Pakistan
approximately USD 6.9 billion in 2019. However, terrorism in Pakistan is as
much rising and has raised as the extremists have targeted mosques one of the
worst attacks them was the attack on the schools in Peshawar in 2014 in which
141 died including kids, teachers and etc.
Terrorism in Pakistan is a significant issue
which has destroyed Pakistan economically, and potentially destroyed trade
between countries and resist tourists from having a tour here. The government should
seriously be ready and must take action on this issue.
