News headlines about big criminal acts against children such as kidnapping, abuse, murder, and rape are more than just disturbing. We should condemn these evil acts. While our hearts go out to aggrieved who may not see their children again, we must realize that we live in a time where it is no longer safe for children. Protecting children from harm and violence is not the duty of parents but also society has to play its role as well. For starters, action needs to begin with parents and the family. Parents must be careful and know the whereabouts of their children all the time. They should watch their children especially when they are outside, and in the playground, or while shopping. Moreover, parents should set boundaries about places that children may go, people, they may see, and things and they may do. while children should also be taught to say no strangers offering lifts and gifts.
