Not all sound is considered noise pollution.
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines noise above 65 decibels (dB)_ as
noise pollution. To be precise, noise becomes harmful when it exceeds 75
decibels dB and is painful above 120 dB.
Noise pollution is the noise that
causes discomfort and harm to living beings’ mental and physical health.
Noise pollution is caused by several phenomena
including industrial activities, transports traffic, loudspeakers many more.
Moreover, the noise of various machines
being operated in different industries and various processes operating within
these industries create the problem of noise pollution. The workers of these
industries and the people of nearby areas are victims of such pollution noise of
almost continuously, operating mechanical saws drilling, cutting, crushing are
sources of considerable irritation and annoyance and highly disturbing.
On the other hand, due to the ever-increasing
number of motor vehicles in the cities, the problem of noise pollution is
becoming more and more acute particularly, in the cities. Generally, the el-operated
vehicles create noise of greater intensity. Traffic noise accounts for most polluting
noise in cities. For example, a car horn
produces 90 dB, and a bus produces100 dB. The noise arising out of air
transport is not continuous, but the intensity of such a noise is much higher
than that generated from surface transport. A single aircraft produces130 dB.
During social events and other
festive occasions, people use loudspeakers in an unjustified manner. It also
causes noise.
Further, it affects the lives of
animals and human beings physically and mentally. One of the most noise effects
is" deafness”. Its high noise level (120dB) is immediate and permanent
hearing damage. Additionally, noise makes people restless and tired. It causes
disturbance in sleeping and loudspeakers to cause disturbance in the study. The
human mind tolerates noise in a limited excess noise also causes headaches.
Finally. Noise has a huge impact on
the lives of animals and human beings. We have to grow more and more trees that
absorb noise from 5dB to 10dB it may be controlled somehow. Besides devices
that are not useable, we have to off them, wear air plug-in noise places and
the sound of radios, television music volume must be in the limit to prevent noise
pollution.
