Child Trafficking || A massive issue
Child trafficking is a worldwide massive issue. It is the most growing and second-largest criminal enterprise. Children are being used for hazardous works and being trafficked in several trafficking ways like trafficking for the removal of organs, pimp-controlled trafficking, buyer-perpetrated trafficking, gang-controlled trafficking, peers trafficking, etc.
As mentioned in a publication "over 10 million adults and almost 4 million children were forced to work." Around the world, 168 million children are forced into labor. According to Huffpost.com ", 1.2 million children are trafficked every year.
Moreover,
children's sex workers are forced from 12 to 14, child sex trafficking is 4 times
more than adults and $99 billion in profits come in a year from sexual
exploitation.
And in Pakistan 19,723 trafficking victims were reported in 2018 and 19,954 trafficking victims in 2019 which indicates that every year child trafficking is increasing instead of decreasing. But in Pakistan 70% of bonded laborers are children.
In addition, traffickers mostly force children for laboring, beg, steal, sexual exploitation, transfer children to other countries. These children feel terrified, have low self-esteem, self-doubts, hesitation, self-hatred, hopelessness, illnesses, drugs addiction. A part of all these as well go through physical and sexual trauma, depression, and sexually transmitted infections.
In fact, street children are lured for their basic needs such as food, clothes, and a safe place to stay. Child trafficking is so highly spread because of poverty, street children, orphans, absence of birth registration, and kidnapping.
Thus, the
government should focus on all these in the country to prevent child
trafficking and should try hard to find the traffickers.
