Ramadan and Inflation

Unlike the rest of the Muslim world, where the government goes out of its way to facilitate the public but in Pakistan people are left all on their own to deal with the ever-increasing inflation.

There are no brownie points for guessing as to why the prices of essential items start sky-rocketing only a few weeks before Ramadan. As usual, this year too there has been a phenomenal surge in the prices of food items, especially fruits, since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.

However, with the Holy month of Ramadan underway, people have begun to feel the effects of galloping inflation, even more, prices for essential items were already on the ascent before the month set in. It is a fact that the low-income buyer is in misery because of the government which has failed to control the price hike. The city administration doesn't bother about paying a visit to markets to check the prices of items.

Thus, it is my humble request to the government and the price control authorities are urged to pay surprise visits to the local markets to see the situation for themselves and then control it. They should work together to control this artificial inflation so that people could observe Ramadan with some peace of mind.
