Poverty is often determined by socioeconomic status, ethnicity, gender, and geography. Many people are born into poverty and have little hope of overcoming it, while others may fall into this situation due to negative economic conditions, natural disasters, or surging living costs—as well as drug addiction and depression, and mental health issues. About 55.9 percent of the Balochistan or 11.4 million people live in extreme poverty in Balochistan.

Balochistan is the largest province of Pakistan by area. Balochistan is rich in national resources like national gas, oil, coal, copper, Sulphur, fluoride, and gold this is the largest and least developed province in Pakistan. Unfortunately, the people of Balochistan spend their life below the poverty line. Poverty is the largest problem because of violence and illiteracy in Balochistan.

The government may have its own threshold that determines how many of its people are living in poverty.
